About Us
Bhutan Cancer Society (BCS) is a Public Benefit Organization registered under the Civil Society Organizations Authority of Bhutan.
It was formally launched by its Patron Her Royal Highness Ashi Kezang Wangmo Wangchuck on 4th February 2015, coinciding with the World Cancer Day.
Why BCS Exist?
BCS’ aims to reach out to underprivileged cancer patients and caregiver, and assist them to cope with their diagnosis and treatment.
BCS is dedicated to saving lives through information sharing, patient support and raising awareness about prevention and early diagnosis.
How Bhutan Cancer Society fulfills its mission?
Bhutan cancer society alone to stand all the storms is impossible, as we are created in the nature of interdependent to each other.

History about BCS
Dasho Dechen Wangmo, the former Minister for the Ministry of Health who lost her mother and grandmother to cancer, Aum Lilly Wangchuk, a cancer survivor and Dr. Ugyen Tshomo, the Gynecologist at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital formed the Bhutan Cancer Society in 2013 with an objective to save lives and support cancer patients in Bhutan.

What we do?
The Society aims to reduce cancer incidences and mortality in the country by working on three main pillars:
Awareness and Advocacy – Prevention
Optimize prevention measures by improving access to knowledge and information through community-based awareness programs.
Advocate and mobilize resources for prevention, treatment and policy dialogue.
Care and Support
Empower and instill hope for the affected families to fight and survive cancer through improved and quality psychosocial support activities.
Research
Make available evidence-based information to healthcare providers, cancer patients and general public.
